ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE

The Royal family owe their very existence to The Guards. The Grenadier Guards were formed in Flanders to protect the exiled King Charles II in 1656. General George Monck who formed the Coldstream Guards in 1660 was the man who was responsible for restoring King Charles to power. Since then, a very close, enduring relationship has been formed between The Guards and the Sovereign. This outstanding collection tells that story in stunning detail; of bravery and daring, awesome battles, sacrifice, and royal affection.

From the inception of the regiments, the early battle colours carried at Waterloo to the recent Afghan conflict and everything in between. This is quintessentially a royal collection as well as being the very fabric of what helped make Britain great!

Artefacts include…

The world-famous scarlet tunics and bearskin caps, uniforms worn by the Queen and other members of the royal family. Wonderful regimental silverware, Victoria Crosses worth over £2 million, rare and poignant exhibits from both World Wars and stories about these fighting men to fill you with pride and awe.
